Frans work is concerned with the home and what it represents for both her and her family/friends/people renting spaces/musicians etc. The home for Fran represents a very maternally nurturing and bodily space in which she puts into her work. Making marks using nooks an crannies – her drawings are a response to the space she both works and lives in.
A lot of the drawings Fran makes seem to incorporate the very repetitive nature that is strongly connected to the language of drawing. Being involved in this process transforms the drawings into passages in which thoughts and feeling travel over every surface including tables, walls, floors, ceilings, they almost leak as though can’t be contained.
