Having heard a lot of good things about the new Alexander McQueen show at the V&A over the past few weeks. I decided to go and see it for myself.
It was a sweltering sunny day and when we got inside the show it was very lowly lit, almost like being in a victorian horror movie. golden spotlights on each piece dating from his early graduate collection of clean lines and exquisite tailoring through to the more curious and beguiling works made in his later life.
I was delighted to see that every piece had a matching mask or other facial/bodily adornment. Often using horse hair, feathers, bone, sequins,or wire, gold to complete the work.
